Visit the heart of downtown Hattiesburg for a fun, free, and magical night! Explore the magical world of Whoville, and start the holiday season right - with cookies! Snap a festive photo with the Grinch and Cindy-Lou Who at Saengerville Grinchmas and spot the Lorax at the African American History Museum. There are more Whoville spots, including the Historic Eureka School, Smith Drug Co., The Author Shoppe, Twin Forks Wine and Provisions, and Blooms. You won't leave empty-handed; all locations offer free cookies (while supplies last!) and shopping opportunities at these local businesses. Hattiesburg Zoo’s “Green GrinchMobile” will give free rides to central downtown locations. And watch out for snowfall in the Pocket Museum Alley starting at 6 pm.
Pajamas (and dogs) are encouraged.
Victorian Candlelit Christmas
December 14-15
5 P.M. - 9 P.M.
The Annual Victorian Candlelit Christmas event, hosted by the Historic Neighborhood Association, is a two-day holiday-favorite event that draws hundreds of visitors from across the region to explore the spectacle of 18,000 white bags with flickering candles, lining the sidewalks of the Historic Neighborhood and the downtown district.
Guests are invited to experience the nostalgia of a simpler time as they travel historic streets lined with luminaries alongside more than 300 homes and businesses decorated for the holidays with garlands, bows, and twinkling lights. There will be horse-drawn carriage rides leaving from the Walthall, food trucks and holiday photo ops available in Walthall Park.
Lights of the Wild
December 6-8, 13-15, 19-23
6 P.M. - 8:30 P.M.
This family-friendly holiday event at the Hattiesburg Zoo will immerse visitors in an animal-themed light exhibit featuring hundreds of expansive, sculptural LED lanterns. Admission includes unlimited train and carousel rides, animal encounters, and a visit from beloved film characters. Additionally, holiday treats and libations will be available for purchase. Tickets should be purchased ahead of time, as space is limited.
Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting

This is the 74th Annual Hattiesburg Jaycees Christmas Parade, with the theme “Caroling through the Ages.” This magical event brings the community together to celebrate the holiday. This heartwarming tradition captures the essence of Christmas and the joy it brings to all.
After the parade, stick around for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Town Square Park. This year's theme, "All the Bells on Earth Will Ring," promises to enchant everyone with its festive spirit. Don't miss out on this delightful event – it's the perfect way to kick off the holiday season!
