VisitHATTIESBURG Event Calendar Guidelines

If this is your first time submitting and event to the VisitHATTIESBURG website or your first time in a while, thank you for taking the time! Please read through our submission guidelines below so we can get your event listed promptly.


Our goal is to provide information for visitors on fun and exciting things to do while traveling to Hattiesburg. VisitHATTIESBURG reserves the right to determine eligibility for inclusion on VisitHBURG.org with consideration given to the appeal of the event to attract day trips and overnight visitors. Other events may be chosen to appear on our "Things To Do This Month In Hattiesburg" blog as an alternative.

VisitHATTIESBURG believes in ethical standards and values diversity, equity, and inclusion. To ensure that visitors to Hattiesburg are welcomed and treated with respect and equality, VisitHATTIESBURG reserves the right to suspend business or event listings from our website if these values are not upheld.

Approval/rejection of all submissions is at the discretion of VisitHATTIESBURG, which reserves the right to edit or refuse any listing at any time.

Please remember that these are only guidelines. Please contact us directly with any questions or concerns, and we would be happy to provide additional guidance.

Please allow up to five business days for your event to appear on our website from submission, if approved.

What can I submit to the VisitHATTIESBURG calendar?

  • Prominent events open to the general public and actively marketed to audiences in Hattiesburg.
  • Events showcasing a community’s unique character, history or heritage
  • Performances, live music, theatre productions, and music festivals
  • Exhibit openings and open houses of historic homes
  • Holiday events that include activities of interest to visitors
  • Multi-day community festivals & county fairs that offer entertainment and activities that would interest a visitor
  • Major and minor league sporting events, 5Ks, and Marathons (individual games or the season)

As a reminder, preference for the calendar is given to events that draw tourism to the area. All other events will appear on the "Things To Do This Month in Hattiesburg" blog.

What does not qualify for the VisitHATTIESBURG calendar?

  • Events that are NOT being held in Hattiesburg
  • Events that are your normal business model. These include and are not limited to daily repeating exhibits, daily or weekly deals, happy hour specials, seasonal deals, themed sales at a business that do not have an entertainment factor, speaker series, or celebration to kick off the sale, or open times of a business.
  • Events closed to any segment of the general public for any reason
    Fundraisers – these include basket raffles, reverse raffles, galas, golf outings or events that categorize themselves as a fundraiser in the main description without an entertainment element such as a full concert, taste of event, wine or beer tastings, etc.
  • School or College events for student only events
  • Coloring contests, photo contests, excluding gallery openings
  • Church or worship services
  • Family or class reunions
  • Retail sales, craft shows and yard sales that are not associated with a special tourism event
  • Multi-week classes/workshops/summer camps
  • Running or biking clubs that meet weekly or monthly
  • Book club meetings, social club meetings, neighborhood gatherings, ice cream socials, etc.
  • Private or members‐only events

What information do I need to submit?

  • Please provide all available information about your event to our submission form.
    • This includes dates, times, event descriptions, contact information, event category, location, ticketing information, and any information that will help people connect with your event.
  • Images should be 1920px x 1080px landscape orientation. If you have questions about photo submissions or need assistance, please contact events@visithburg.org.
